DeepVisionTech.AI is breaking barriers in accessibility with its flagship solution, Let’sTalkSign, a groundbreaking platform designed to empower the Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Speech Impaired communities. Through AI and inclusive design, the Bengaluru-based startup is addressing a wide spectrum of communication challenges, enabling users to interact independently with the world around them.
Context: Tech-Driven Accessibility in an Overlooked Space
In India and across the globe, millions of Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Speech Impaired individuals face systemic exclusion from essential aspects of daily life — not just communication, but also education, employment, public services, and digital content. Despite rapid advancements in technology, most available solutions remain fragmented, hardware-dependent, or simply impractical.
DeepVisionTech.AI aims to bridge this critical gap with Let’sTalkSign, a comprehensive AI-powered platform built to support inclusive access across communication, learning, workplaces, customer support, and more.
The Inclusion Crisis Facing the Deaf Community
Barriers for Deaf individuals extend far beyond conversations — they affect classroom learning, workplace collaboration, public infrastructure usage, and access to digital content and services. Despite good intentions, many organizations and government institutions lack the tools to implement inclusive systems effectively.
These gaps limit autonomy, perpetuate inequality, and reduce opportunities for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities. Let’sTalkSign directly addresses this by providing end-to-end solutions tailored to their everyday experiences.
Let’sTalkSign: AI-Powered Inclusion
Let’sTalkSign functions as an automatic sign language interpreter, converting speech and text into sign language and vice versa. The solution includes six variants, catering to both individual and institutional needs:
- Communication Apps for day-to-day conversations.
- Digital Accessibility Tools for inclusive web and training content.
- Workplace Inclusion Toolkits for corporate environments.
- Customer Support Modules for businesses to assist Deaf customers.
- Educational Apps for teachers and Deaf students.
- Public Service Chatbots for accessible services in hospitals, airports, and stations.
Unlike competitors who focus narrowly on sign language education or content translation, Let’sTalkSign aims to solve the full spectrum of challenges throughout a Deaf person's life.
A Founder’s Journey of Empathy and Innovation
Jay, the founder of DeepVisionTech.AI, drew inspiration from his own hearing challenges and his early career exposure to mission-driven entrepreneurship. With over 25 years in IT, including roles at Infosys, Amazon, and Wipro, he took a sabbatical in 2018 to dive into AI. This marked a turning point. In 2020, he pivoted entirely to focus on Let’sTalkSign, driven by both personal empathy and a glaring market gap.
Building Momentum with a Mission-Driven Team
Jay leads business development and operations, while Arul Praveen T, a Mechatronics engineer, heads the tech team. Their inclusive approach includes Deaf employees, sign language interpreters, and 3D animators. The startup actively hires based on passion for social impact, emphasizing inclusivity over credentials.
From Grants to Groundbreaking Growth
Let’sTalkSign has already impacted over 5,800 Deaf individuals. The company has won accolades from the Karnataka Government, Oracle, and the Centre for Development of Telematics. It has also secured key partnerships with institutions like AIISH Mysore and corporates like Godrej Properties.
The startup has received seed funding and grants from programs like STPI Chunauti, TIDE 2.0, and ELEVATE, avoiding traditional VC funding to stay mission-aligned.
Navigating Reluctance, Scaling Access
Early challenges included hesitancy from the Deaf community and ecosystem partners. To address this, DeepVisionTech.AI involved Deaf team members in development and partnered with NGOs for feedback. Technical hurdles were addressed through collaborations with engineering colleges. Market reach remains a challenge, as does keeping pace with rapid AI advancements.
Real Impact and Global Vision
Let’sTalkSign currently supports nine international sign languages and aspires to scale further. With applications in communication, education, and public services, the solution is already transforming how Deaf individuals interact with their environments.
From a deeply personal motivation to national and global recognition, Let’sTalkSign represents a significant leap in assistive technology. It’s not just a product—it’s a platform for inclusion, dignity, and independence for millions.
