African immigrant, Bitcoin is the new American dream !
As i arrived to the us from the deserts of north africa i was ( like most of my people ) obnoxiously fed by the western media how beautiful and comfortable life is in the united states. When i had the chance to arrive here i quit my Biology major at the university back home and packed my bags in hopes for a better future under the reign of the Almighty Dollar. As a guy who generally likes to read and reflect a lot, after 6 months of working 84 hours per week in NYC bodegas and grocery, sending a 1100$ monthly back home for my family expenses ( parents and brothers ) , and saving as much as i could and sharing an apartment with 8 of homeboys, i realized that there is something fundamentally wrong within this monetary system because inflation hit my country (Mauritania) like a lightning bolt and all of a sudden all the metrics and numbers i had in my mind were crimbling down everytime a family members calls for to inform me about groceries skyrocketing or how the real estate is becoming impossible to acquire ( we are talking about a literal desert ), the dream of getting my family and myself a house using the USD leverage is exponentially slipping away. And then i started asking myself why do i and other immigrants need more dollars to afford our families the same poor lifestyle they had? Why is the dollar not enough? And why is my country's currency eroding in value ( current exchange rate is 1 usd = 400 MRU ) at such an insane rate ? I subsequently started diving into economic definitions and then followed by learning the foundations of modern monetary theory basis, going all the way up to nixon getting the US off the gold standard and giving birth to this modern ponzi scheme we live in today. After literal 100s of hours od studying I sat down with tears in my eyes and absolute horror and the only thing that was going in my mind was : How the hell are we still keeping this monster fiat machine alive and how can anyone EVER DEFEND this cancerous, unsustainable, poverty inducing pyramid scheme that is literally built to explode on itself. Then, i picked up the bitcoin standard by ammous and started going down the rabbit hole by late 2023. There's a point of fiat understanding that once you realize how this beast functions and its attributes, you realize that most of our economic and social problems are tied directly to how we define value and how a minority of oligarchs have given themselves the tools to be able to steal and extract value from their subjuects without EVER giving anything in return. Now i stack a minimum of 40% of my salary in sats. I am sure a lot of radical bitcoiners already understand the fatal flaws of current economic model and how we will ALL loose in a fiat world. I wish there is a way to help my fellow immigrant brothers understand that all frames of reference they had are completely obsolete and that amassing dollars will no longer serve nobody any good whether it's here or in their country of origin. Stay humble, and stack sats! submitted by /u/NoCan724 [link] [comments]
