5 years ago I thought my life was over, BTC saved me. Now I'm all in for my retirement
I bought a couple of coins back in 2013, kept them on a hot wallet and carried on with my life (IIRC it was a crazy time where on message boards we were astounded at it going to $300 a coin). 5 years ago I got into a messy divorce. I thought I was doing well in life with a house almost paid off and a lot of cash in the bank. My bank accounts got frozen and I was forced out of the house. I was allowed to withdraw a small amount of cash each month from my bank in person. It was humiliating. But luckily I had my BTC. While I did sell most of them on the cheap, they still gave an amazing return and might have even saved my life when I was at my lowest point. I had to fund everything and lost pretty much most of my cash and the house by the time it was over. Since then I've managed to build myself back up and while I missed out of the lows of 2023 I've been BTC max the last 18 months or so. I'm hoping to get to around 10 BTC by 2026 when I turn 60 and while it might be very volatile you can't beat self custody and knowing that you can't suddenly find all your money has been locked away from you by governments or banks. submitted by /u/MarkoDavido [link] [comments]
