Can Bitcoin Survive Without Block Rewards?

Bitcoin’s security depends on miners getting paid. Right now, most of their income comes from new coins (block rewards). But those rewards keep shrinking and will eventually disappear. After that, miners will rely only on transaction fees. I’m not convinced fees alone will be enough. If people aren’t willing to pay high fees, miners could shut down, making the network less secure. And if most transactions move to Layer 2 (like Lightning), fees on the main chain might not grow enough. Am I missing something? How does Bitcoin stay secure in the long run when block rewards are gone? Will transaction fees have to be crazy high submitted by /u/tom123qwerty [link] [comments]
