Why is bitcoin mining not profitable anymore?

I read a lot everywhere that bitcoin mining casually (e.g. somewhere between on a laptop, and a heavy home setup, but nothing on an industrial scale) is not longer profitable. Why is this the case? Surely the market would correct itself and bitcoin value would go up to maintain the incentive for miners to keep mining. The only reasons make sense to me is - Mining no longer profitable on a casual level but is profitable on an industrial scale due to the efficiencies of large, purpose built, enterprise rigs running in literal data centers in the middle of no where - Mining is no longer profitable in the first world countries where most people are interested with casual mining (e.g. UK, EU, US, Canada etc) because energy prices are so much cheaper in random third world countries where institutional miners may choose to operate Is this correct? Is there any other reasons? Let me know, Im interested to learn. submitted by /u/partyking35 [link] [comments]
